Peqini shtrihet ne pjesen qendrore te Shqiperise. Rrethi i Peqinit ėshtė njėri nga 36-tė rrethet e Shqipėrisė. Rrethi i Peqinit ka 33,000 banorė (sipas 2004), njė sipėrfaqe prej 191 km2 dhe kryeqendėr Peqinin. Klaudiana-Biklinet-Peklin-Peqin Peqini eshte nje vendbanim i lashte ilir,ne bregun e djathte te Shkumbinit te poshtem.Gjetjet arkiologjike deshmojne per faktin se ai ka ekzistuar njeheresh me qytetet me te lashte te vendit tone .Pozicioni gjeografik,ia jepte atij nje mundesi te tille,duke qene i vendosur pergjate rruges se vjeter te KANDAVISE e me pas te asaj EGNATIA, i njohur me emrin KLAUDIANA. Ne burimet historike te vitit 1431 therritet me emrin BIKLINET dhe me pas PEKLIN.Gjate mesjetes se vone u zhvillua si qebder tregtaree zejtare E kaluara e lashte,sidomos ajo mesjetare,pasqyrohet ne momumente historike te qytetit,si kalaja dhe xhamija me kullen e sahatit.. Nga te gjtihe vizitoret e huaj Peqini dhe krahina e tij permendet per popullin e tij bujar e mirkprites,per shtepite e kopshte te bukura,kodrat e veshura me ullij e gjelberim si dhe fushen e gjere pjellore,qe lumi Shkumbin i pershkon fund e krye. Ne Peqin eshte parashikuar te kaloje rruga e ,Korridorit te tete; ,cka do ti sjelle kesaj zone mjaft favorizime ekonomike. Peqini i perket krahines se shqiperise se Mesme dhe si i tille folkloridhe veshjet jan tipike te kesaj krahine Perjashtim ben vetem zona e Darsise,ne te majte te lumit, ku vihen re ndikimet te krahinave jugore.Populli i Peqinit eshte pjesmarres aktiv ne te gjitha ngjarjet historike te vendit.Nga rradhet e tij kane dale patriotč e luftetare te shquar,intelektual e veprimtare te perkushtuar per ceshtje kombetare,ne fushat politike,akademike,kulturore e sportive.

Peqin (Albanian: Peqin, Peqini), (Turkish: Bekleyin) is the capital of the Peqin District in southern Albania at 41.06°N 19.76°E. The town has a population of 33000. The ancient name of Peqin was Klaudiana. The todays name derives from Ottoman form Bekleyin, which means place of Hospitality. Still today there exist the Ottoman Castle and some original parts of the mosque of Abdurrahman Pasha, which was the governor of Eflak [Vlachia] and Boğdan [Moldavia]. Its football team is KS Shkumbini, which play in Albanian superleague. KS Shkumbini is famous for its Crazy Supporters called The Skyblue-White Lions.
