Albanian traditions and customs

In order to be distinguished from the others,one must have some distinguished features such as language,culture and way of living so all these characteristics put together are known as traditions and customs.For an old nation that preserved the tradition and customs from ancient times ,starting from ILLYRIA and all the way to modern times,this could not have been easy considering the fact that it went through three wars which obviously caused a real chaos in the lives of Albanians.It is really amazing how this nation has preserved the traditions and customs of its ancestors and still lives embraced with them.
All Albanian traditions and customs were included in a book called ``LEKE DUKAGJINI´S LAW``(KANUNI I LEKE DUKAGJINIT) which served as a law including all the rules from different life disciplines and at the same time it was respected as a Traditional cultural Albanian guidance .This used to belong to the past.Nowadays things have changed . Even though democracy has got its roots into our nation as well,we don´t face any changes in our tradition and custom.These two basic things which make us different from the others and simply are an identity for us, are preserved fanaticly. Having respect and preserve so much Albanian tradition and costums,one might come to the question what are the most distinguished Albanian characteristics ?The two main Albanian features upon which the whole history of tradition has been built are LOYALTY and HOSPITALITY.This is not said by us.This is said by members of other nationalities who in different stages of time have noticed them.
As far as our culture is concerned,we can say that we have a rich culture which extends from ancien times until now and it has it is based on the ancient originality which proves that it has not lost its values and it still continues feeding its descendants with a pure aboriginal culture.
Obviously it is not east to introduce all the traditional values and customs in a simple sheet but in some key points these are some of the main Albanian Traditions.
We have so many things which our nation has contributed on that it is to be proud.
In a word,we are proud to be Albanians.
